Cardinal: '05 Note on Homosexuals Applies to All Seminaries

VATICAN CITY, MAY 22, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI's secretary of state clarified that a 2005 Vatican document saying homosexual men should not be admitted to seminaries applies to religious congregations and Eastern Churches as well.
L'Osservatore Romano published the brief clarification from Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who said the Pope had approved the statement April 8.The cardinal's clarification said the guidelines expressed in the 2005 letter from the Congregation for Catholic Education apply to "all houses of formation for the priesthood, including those under the Dicasteries for Eastern Churches, for the Evangelization of Peoples, and for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life."--- --- ---
