In Malaysia, people will laugh at every opportunities. Just watch a group of high school students playing volley balls, they will laugh whenever they make a blunder (bad shots).
Another observation, just tell a group of people of a true story about an old grandma who was raped in her own house. People will definitely laugh and laugh to their hearts content.
