I believe 100% in this William James quote and thought I would recommend a couple books that might interest you about our mind's power to choose our reality (i.e. live stree-free, slow down and even stop many diseases, etc.)
The first is Relaxation Revolution: Enhancing Your Personal Health Through the Science and Genetics of Mind Body By: Herbert Benson and William Proctor
and the second is The Perfect Health: The Complete Mind/Body Guide By: Deepak Chopra
